232 Educators from West African Countries Pass Peace Education Program

Some of the 232 peace education graduates are from Ghana, Nigeria and Cameroon.

In his opening speech, Jeong Hoi Hyeon said that he believed peace education would end discrimination and create peace.

“I believe that students who receive peace education will acquire a peace mindset, and in this way, West Africa will emerge as a peaceful region without tears, suffering or discrimination,” said Jeong Hoi Hyeon, Head Branch Manager of HWPL Seoul South & Gyeonggi Branch on Saturday 26 June 2021, local time.

Meanwhile, Amb. (Dr.) Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibi, President and Founder of the Pan-African Institute for Global Affairs and Strategy (PAIGAS), said that this program is an agent to change the lives of future generations.

“The Peace Educator Empowerment Training Program has the potential, with you as its agent, to change the lives of the next generation of West Africans into staunch lovers and advocates of peace. This is our dream; this is our hope where we have great confidence," said Amb. (Dr.) Martin Ihoeghian Uhomoibi.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of the International Peace and Human Development Charitable Center (INTERCEP), Mr. Clement Lornongu emphasized the importance of building peace through the younger generation, especially in West Africa today.

“Working closely with the HWPL curriculum on Peace Education will be very helpful in building a culture of Peace in the young generation in West Africa,” he said.

HWPL Peace Development Forum held the Graduation of Peace Educator Empowerment Training in West Africa.

"We would really like to express our deepest gratitude to the Chair of HWPL, Man Hee Lee for the global initiative to push for the Adoption of the Declaration on the Cessation of Peaceful Wars (DPCW) into the United Nations," added Mr. Clement Lornongu.

“The goal of HWPL peace education is to educate young people who are exposed to various environments, such as conflict, discrimination, poverty, and violence about the value of peace and the importance of living side by side without discrimination and to train leaders to help them grow into peaceful citizens,” said one HWPL Department of Peace Education staff member in West Africa.

"So we hope that peace education will be available to primary, secondary, tertiary schools and universities in West African countries as a formal curriculum in the future," the Staff said.
